Ryan Thomas was quick to notice a 'spooky' sign from his late father during Saturday's Celebrity Deal or No Deal. The actor, alongside his brother Adam, appeared on the ITV show hosted by Stephen Mulhern.
Pigeon mascot story
The brothers brought a pigeon mascot to the show, which led Stephen to ask for an explanation. Ryan shared a story about a pigeon that appeared at their family home in the South of England.
He said: "I opened the back door and it came in, it was eating all the crumbs off of the floor for like six, seven hours, it didn't leave the house." The pigeon, which had a tag on its leg, was taken by a vet and later discovered to be from Manchester.
Connection to late dad
Ryan explained that the pigeon, named Dougie after his dad, eventually returned to their Manchester home and stayed for over a month. He added: "He's called Dougie, after my dad, so I took him to see our racehorses. Our racehorse that dad left us when he died."
The actor then noticed that his partner Lucy had the number box corresponding to his dad's birthday, the 14th. He said: "What's even more spooky is my dad's birthday is the 14th and Lucy has got my dad's box. That is weird! This is weird." Stephen replied: "Already a sign!"
The siblings lost their father, Dougie James, unexpectedly in late 2020 at the age of 72. Celebrity Deal or No Deal is available on ITVX.
