Yaya Toure has launched a fresh attack on his former manager Pep Guardiola, branding the Manchester City boss a 'snake' in a new interview. The 42-year-old, who played under Guardiola at both Barcelona and Manchester City, made the comments during an appearance on the ZACK YouTube channel.
Toure recounted his experience at Barcelona, where Guardiola initially wanted him to stay after a World Cup performance. 'I don't see a man, I see a snake,' Toure said. 'The Barcelona coach calls me back and says, "You have to come back, it's important." My wife said, "Are you going to listen to that nonsense? He treated you like dirt."'
The midfielder left Barcelona for Manchester City in 2010, but was reunited with Guardiola when the Catalan took over at the Etihad in 2016. Toure struggled for regular starts in his final two years at City and previously accused Guardiola of having 'problems with Africans', though he later apologised for the remark.
Toure's latest comments come despite expressing a desire to end the feud in 2022, when he told The Times he wished to speak with Guardiola. Guardiola, meanwhile, has won six Premier League titles and the Champions League at City since 2016, including the two campaigns Toure was part of before leaving in 2018.
