Wayne Rooney's Barbados New Year: Sun, Sea & Man Utd Reunion
Wayne Rooney's Caribbean New Year with Man Utd pals

Manchester United and England icon Wayne Rooney saw in the New Year under the Caribbean sun, leaving behind the winter chill of the UK for a tropical family holiday in Barbados.

Family Escape to the Tropics

The former striker, 40, was spotted enjoying the warm sands and clear waters alongside his wife Coleen and their four sons: Kai, Kit, Klay, and Cass. The Rooney family had celebrated Christmas at their £20 million mansion in Cheshire before jetting off for some well-earned relaxation.

While Wayne opted for a refreshing plunge in the warm Caribbean Sea rather than a traditional British cold dip, Coleen showcased her beach style in a stripy bikini, sipping a drink on the shore. The mother of four, who was a runner-up in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! last year, appeared thoroughly relaxed as she worked on her tan.

Unexpected Old Trafford Reunion

The holiday took a nostalgic turn when it emerged the Rooneys were not the only Manchester United figures on the island. The trip became an impromptu Old Trafford reunion, with former teammates Michael Carrick, Jonny Evans, and Darron Gibson also holidaying in Barbados.

This gathering brought together a remarkable haul of footballing honours. Notably, Rooney and Carrick remain the only two English players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, League Cup, Community Shield, Europa League, and Club World Cup.

Fun in the Winter Sun

Lucky fans managed to spot the group on the beach and snapped photos with the legendary players. Wayne was seen showing off his jet-ski skills, seemingly enjoying a break from his football punditry duties.

The family embraced the holiday spirit fully, with temperatures in Barbados reaching the high 20s Celsius – a stark contrast to the sub-zero conditions gripping England at the time. For the Rooneys and their friends, it was the perfect way to start 2026.
