Vitinha goal gives PSG winning start at Nantes

Paris Saint-Germain kicked off their Ligue 1 title defence with a narrow 1-0 victory over Nantes, courtesy of a first-half strike from Portuguese midfielder Vitinha.

The reigning champions showed their class in a tightly contested match at Stade de la Beaujoire, with Vitinha's 20th-minute goal proving the difference between the sides.

Early Dominance Pays Off

PSG started brightly, controlling possession and creating several chances before Vitinha broke the deadlock. The 24-year-old showed excellent composure to slot home after being played through by Marco Asensio, giving the visitors a deserved lead.

Nantes Fight Back

The home side grew into the game after going behind, with Nantes' Moses Simon causing problems down the left flank. However, PSG's defence, marshalled by captain Marquinhos, stood firm to preserve their advantage.

New PSG manager Luis Enrique will be pleased with his team's resilience, particularly in the second half when Nantes applied sustained pressure. Gianluigi Donnarumma made several crucial saves to maintain his clean sheet.
