Regarding the fan anger, Valente added, "We've been hearing that for a while. We are second, it is clear that the game isn't great. The emotions are logical. We can't do much with them. Not that they are wrong, but we have to move on week by week. We have one objective: Champions League football."
Van Persie emphasised this objective before the match, noting that the club's "Champions League project" is paramount. He stated, "We state that it is important for the club. That we have to work hard to be in the Champions League next year, because that is what we want." However, with performances like Sunday's, achieving that goal will require a significant and immediate turnaround.
