Maycee Barber was left motionless on the canvas for nearly a minute after a brutal knockout and choke by Alexa Grasso at UFC Seattle. The flyweight co-main event ended in the first round when Grasso landed a counter one-two from southpaw, stunning the 27-year-old.
As Barber fell, Grasso followed up with a left hook and immediately sank in a rear-naked choke. Referee Mike Beltran quickly stepped in, waving off the contest as Barber lay unconscious, her eyes glazed. A ringside physician rushed to attend to her, while Grasso knelt nearby in a show of concern.
Fortunately, Barber recovered in time for the official decision announcement and left the cage unaided. Social media erupted with concern, with one fan calling it 'horrendous' and another questioning if it was 'one of the most brutal WMMA finishes ever'. Commentator Daniel Cormier noted, 'She didn't need a choke, she was out.'
In the main event, Joe Pyfer secured a second-round knockout of Israel Adesanya, marking the former middleweight champion's fourth consecutive loss since September 2023. Pyfer took Adesanya to the mat and rained down blows until referee Herb Dean stopped the bout.
