Tottenham Hotspur have been fined €30,000 by UEFA and received a suspended ban on selling away tickets after three supporters made Nazi salutes during a Champions League match in Germany. The club has issued indefinite bans to those involved, describing their actions as 'utterly abhorrent conduct'.
The incident occurred during Tottenham's 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of January. The three fans were identified following cooperation between the club, German police and the Metropolitan Police.
In addition to the fine for discriminatory behaviour, UEFA imposed a €2,250 penalty for the throwing of objects by fans. The away ticket ban is suspended for one year, meaning Tottenham could face restrictions if further incidents occur.
The club released a statement confirming the sanctions and condemning the behaviour: 'The club stands firmly against all forms of discrimination and has therefore taken the strongest possible action.' Tottenham are currently enduring a difficult domestic run, having equalled a club record with ten Premier League matches without a win.
Their next Champions League fixture is a last-16 tie away to Atletico Madrid on 10 March.
