The incident was met with immediate and fierce condemnation. Just Equal Australia, a prominent LGBTQ+ advocacy organisation, issued a stern rebuke, labelling the language as "completely unacceptable."
Spokesperson Sally Goldner expressed her dismay, stating the slur "fuels hatred and prejudice towards LGBTIQA+ people." She emphasised the particular impact on young people tuning into the family-friendly event, calling for a prompt and public apology from the artist to help mitigate the damage caused.
