Sesko Embraces Super Sub Role at Manchester United Amid Starting Calls
Sesko Happy as Super Sub for Man Utd Despite Starting Demands

Benjamin Sesko has declared he is entirely unbothered by being labelled a super substitute, emphasising his willingness to continue aiding Michael Carrick and Manchester United from the bench. The Slovenian striker was introduced just before the hour mark in the recent clash at Everton, where he netted the decisive goal to secure a vital 1-0 away victory.

Impactful Contributions from the Bench

This strike marked Sesko's sixth goal in just seven appearances, underscoring his remarkable efficiency. Beyond the Everton winner, he also scored the crucial goal in a 3-2 triumph over Fulham and delivered a late equaliser to salvage a point against West Ham. These interventions have directly earned United five additional points in the Premier League campaign.

Growing Pressure for a Starting Berth

Naturally, Sesko's prolific form has ignited increasing calls from fans and pundits for him to be promoted to the starting lineup. He has not started a match since Michael Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim. However, the 22-year-old forward maintains a notably calm perspective, contrasting with the external clamour for change.

'I'm getting settled in the league from game to game,' Sesko stated. 'Again, I'm not even thinking about "I have to start, I have to start". For me it's just whenever coach decides to put me there one time or not I'm just going to be there. If I get the next minutes, five minutes, I'm going to use them and for me it's just about trying to enjoy and delivering for the team.'

A Philosophy of Patience and Teamwork

Sesko's composed demeanour reflects a belief that good things come to those who wait. While discussions about reshaping the side to include him from the outset grow louder, his focus remains squarely on immediate contributions.

'We are talking of course but [Michael Carrick] believes in me, everyone believes in me, they are getting me ready to start as soon as possible,' Sesko explained. 'It's more about me showing up when it's important. No matter how many minutes I'm getting I'm focusing on delivering and trying to help the team secure the wins.'

Context of United's Attacking Revival

This individual success story is set against the backdrop of a significant offensive improvement at Old Trafford. Last season, the entire squad managed only 44 Premier League goals, a tally already surpassed this campaign with 48 goals scored. This enhancement followed a major summer recruitment drive to rebuild the attack.

Sesko's £73.7 million arrival was the most expensive acquisition, with Bryan Mbeumo (£65 million) and Matheus Cunha (£62.5 million) also joining the ranks. Despite these substantial price tags, Sesko articulately dismisses any notion of undue pressure affecting the trio.

Embracing Pressure as a Privilege

'For me the way I look at the pressure it's something that if I want to be a good player it's something that I have to have,' Sesko added. 'I take it as a privilege. It's something that has [to be there] if you want to play at the highest level and it's about accepting it and not really caring about it. For me it didn't really affect me and I don't think for Cunha and Bryan as well.'

As Manchester United continues its campaign, Sesko's attitude and impactful performances from the bench provide a compelling narrative of patience, professionalism, and potent goal-scoring ability, all while the debate over his starting role intensifies.
