Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has become just the second player in Premier League history to win the Goal of the Month award three times. The Portuguese midfielder's stunning strike against Burnley in September secured the accolade, matching a record previously held by Andros Townsend.
Fernandes' winning goal came in United's 1-0 victory at Turf Moor, where he controlled a lofted pass from Jonny Evans before firing a low volley past the Burnley goalkeeper. The goal was chosen by fans, beating competition from Arsenal's Leandro Trossard and teammate Hannibal Mejbri.
The 29-year-old's first Goal of the Month award came in June 2020 for a strike against Brighton & Hove Albion, followed by a second in February 2021 for his effort in a 3-3 draw with Everton. His latest win makes him the first Manchester United player to claim the award since Cristiano Ronaldo in March 2022.
Fernandes' goal was his second of the current campaign, and he will look to add to his tally when United face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on 21 October. The win at Burnley gave United a much-needed three points in what was otherwise a dull encounter.
