Bukayo Saka has admitted that Arsenal already know which opponent they would prefer to face in the Champions League final. The Gunners secured their place in Budapest with a gritty 1-0 victory at home against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, marking their first appearance in the final in two decades.
Who Could Arsenal Face?
Arsenal will now take on either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain, who meet in Germany for the second leg of their semi-final on Wednesday. PSG hold a 5-4 aggregate lead and are aiming to win the competition for the second consecutive year.
Speaking after the match, Saka was asked by CBS Sports which side he would prefer to face in the Hungarian capital on Saturday, May 30. The England international initially hesitated, saying: "Come on, man... you can't ask me that. I'd have to give a media-trained answer."
However, when pressed further, Saka revealed: "You know deep down who we'd want to face in the final."
Revenge or Confidence?
PSG eliminated Arsenal in last season's Champions League on their way to lifting the trophy, so the Gunners could be seeking revenge. However, Saka and his teammates did beat Bayern Munich 3-1 in this year's league phase, which may give them added confidence if they face the German side.
For now, Arsenal's focus remains on domestic matters despite reaching only their second Champions League final in club history, and their first since 2006. The Gunners are set to play West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace before the final, as they aim to secure the Premier League title after three consecutive second-placed finishes.
Declan Rice and Mikel Arteta React
Declan Rice reflected on the club's journey, telling Prime Video Sport: "Where this club has come from over the last few years - things that hurt you as a player. The manager has taken full control. We have kept building - we have kept pushing each other. This competition and the Premier League. We have gone full throttle. We have found ourselves in a good position with less than a month to go. Sunday now is a massive one."
Mikel Arteta added: "It's an amazing night to live this kind of moment with the players and everyone at the club, it's an incredible feeling. It makes sense with all of the things we do and we go through and I see so many happy faces and proud of what we're doing."
