Cristiano Ronaldo had to appear at his hotel window on Sunday night to ask a group of Iran fans to keep the noise down. Around 50 supporters gathered outside Portugal's team hotel in Saransk, Russia, armed with vuvuzelas, horns and a giant drum.
The fans chanted and played instruments in an attempt to disturb the Portugal players' sleep ahead of their crucial World Cup Group B match on Monday. A defeat for either side could see them eliminated from the tournament.
Ronaldo, the Portugal captain, wagged his finger at the crowd before putting his hands together under his head to signal he was trying to sleep. The 33-year-old has scored four goals so far in the World Cup, one behind England's Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.
Iran face Portugal in their final group game, with a loss guaranteeing Iran's exit. Portugal would need Spain to lose heavily to Morocco to progress if they lose.
