Harry Redknapp accidentally runs over wife Sandra in 'freak accident'

Harry Redknapp's wife Sandra was seriously injured when she was run over by a Range Rover driven by the former football manager in Bournemouth. The incident occurred on Poole Road in the Westbourne area, where Mr Redknapp had dropped his wife off to go shopping.

Witnesses reported that as Mr Redknapp pulled away, Mrs Redknapp's coat became caught under the car, causing her to fall. The Sun newspaper described her as "yelling in pain" as she hit the ground. Mr Redknapp, who was unaware that his wife was stuck, drove off.

Speaking to the BBC, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss said: "It was just a freak accident you know. Sandra went across the road and unfortunately she had gone behind the car to cross over the road and as I went to drive off I drove over her ankle. It's lucky, if the full weight of the car had gone over the ankle god knows what would have happened to her. We're ok."

The South Western Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the scene at 11:49 BST. Witness Rebecca Forrester said: "People were really concerned and Harry was quite stressed, she was shocked and couldn't move her legs. It was obvious she was seriously hurt."

The couple returned home 24 hours after the accident, with Mrs Redknapp pictured on crutches with her right leg in a cast. No further details on her condition have been released.
