Aaron Ramsey has travelled with Wales to Armenia for their crucial Euro 2024 qualifier despite being injured, manager Rob Page confirmed. The captain, who is sidelined with a knee tendon injury, will miss Saturday's match against Armenia and Tuesday's clash with Turkey, but his presence in the squad is seen as a boost.
Vice-captain Ben Davies will lead the team on the pitch in Ramsey's absence. Davies highlighted the team's unity, describing them as a 'band of brothers' fighting for Wales. 'We're a tightknit group,' he said. 'It's nice when you have a group where you see the same faces every time you come and you end up playing as a family.'
Wales revived their qualification hopes with a victory over Croatia last month, putting their fate back in their own hands. However, they face a tough challenge against Armenia, who beat them 4-2 in June, and Turkey, who have already qualified. Davies acknowledged the earlier defeat but expressed confidence in the squad's ability to bounce back.
Page praised Ramsey's commitment, saying, 'Rambo's travelled with the lads, which is brilliant. His presence around the changing room is a boost. He wants to be around the boys and that speaks volumes about what we've got as a group.'
