Rafael Leao is facing intense criticism after a difficult start to his Galatasaray career, just weeks after turning down a reported £35m move to Chelsea. The 27-year-old winger joined the Turkish club in a deal worth around €44m, having rejected the Premier League transfer in favour of a lucrative new contract at former club AC Milan.
However, after failing to sign that contract, he moved to Galatasaray, where early performances have left fans and pundits questioning his commitment.
Difficult start in Turkey
Leao's transition to the Süper Lig has been difficult, with the forward currently registering zero goals and zero assists. The low point came during a 4-0 defeat against Trabzonspor, where the Portuguese international was criticised for strolling around the pitch and showing poor body language.
Supporters on social media have not held back, with fans on a Turkish football forum labelling him the "worst foreign player in Süper Lig history" and others calling the move the worst transfer the league has ever seen.

Football expert and YouTuber Zealand weighed in on the controversy, diagnosing the winger's struggles as a behavioural issue rather than a lack of talent. Assessing the player's development, he added: "He is who he is now... if you haven't shown the signs of improvement by then if you haven't solved the problems that you've had by then you're not going to solve them."
