Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is reportedly prepared to back manager Mikel Arteta with a significant summer spending spree, as the club pushes for a top-four Premier League finish. According to reports, Kroenke is willing to invest a combined £180 million to secure three high-profile signings: Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.
Isak has a buy-out clause of £75 million, Calvert-Lewin could be available for £60 million, and Neves is valued at around £45 million. The arrivals would bolster Arsenal's attacking options and midfield strength, aiding their ambition to return to regular Champions League football. However, the influx of talent could spell trouble for several current squad members.
Midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has seen his game time reduce after Granit Xhaka's return from injury. If Neves joins, Lokonga would slip further down the pecking order, potentially limited to early cup appearances. Similarly, Mohamed Elneny, out of contract this summer, has started only one Premier League match this season and may not have his deal renewed if Neves arrives.
Up front, Folarin Balogun, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, has impressed with 13 goals in 11 Premier League 2 games earlier this season. But with Isak and Calvert-Lewin potentially joining, his first-team opportunities at the Emirates could be scarce. Nicolas Pepe, already struggling for game time with just five league starts this term, may find himself even more marginalised, with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe ahead of him in the pecking order.
The potential arrivals signal a clear intent from Kroenke to back Arteta's project, but they also raise questions about the futures of those who may become surplus to requirements.
