YouTube Prankster Handed Lengthy Football Ban
A YouTube prankster has been hit with a significant five-year football banning order after he ran onto the pitch during a high-profile England match. Daniel Jarvis, 37, from Gravesend in Kent, invaded the playing field at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin during a Nations League game between the Republic of Ireland and England last September.
Childish Stunt Wasted Police Time and Resources
According to the UK Football Policing Unit, Jarvis ran onto the pitch at the start of the game and was quickly restrained by security staff. Chief Constable Mark Roberts, the National Police Chiefs' lead for football, did not hold back in his criticism. He stated that Jarvis is clearly an attention-seeker who carried out the pitch invasion to get more hits on his social media channels.
Roberts emphasised that the actions were not only childish and irresponsible but also a total waste of police time and taxpayers' money. He explained that such stunts divert security staff from their crucial duties, making it difficult to instantly determine if an individual is a genuine threat or merely seeking attention.
The Director of Public Prosecutions requested the ban, which was formally imposed by a judge at Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 5th November 2025.
A History of Disrupting Sporting Events
This is not the first time Daniel Jarvis has interrupted a major international sporting event. In a separate incident, he was found guilty of aggravated trespass in September 2022. This conviction related to him running onto the field and colliding with England cricketer Jonny Bairstow during a Test match against India back in 2021.
Simon Jones, Crown Prosecution Service Wessex and National Football lead, commented on the case, saying: Daniel Jarvis used his notoriety and platform for repeated illegal behaviour. He added that the five-year ban shows the consequences of criminal actions at matches and should act as a strong deterrent to others.
Chief Constable Roberts welcomed the banning order, stating he hopes it will give Jarvis time to grow up and start to act responsibly. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it continues to work closely with police to prosecute those responsible for criminality in sport.
