Arwel Pugh, a father from Porthmadog, Gwynedd, has called for urgent action to tackle what he describes as a suicide 'epidemic' among men in Wales. His son, Gavin Pugh, 27, was found dead at his home in Cardiff four weeks ago.
Speaking out, Mr Pugh urged society to remove the stigma surrounding mental health, which he believes drives people to take their own lives. He stressed that more must be done to prevent such tragedies.
According to the Office for National Statistics, the number of suicides in Wales rose from 267 in 2008 to 349 in 2018. The figures highlight a growing crisis that Mr Pugh says demands a coordinated response.
