Wolfburg made his fencing debut in a two-mile handicap chase at Musselburgh in late November, finishing a distant seventh. However, equipped with cheekpieces and a tongue strap, and stepped up to two and a half miles, he improved dramatically to score a 14-1 victory in a novice chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day.
Last time out at Catterick Bridge, Wolfburg started as the 16-5 favourite in a three-mile handicap chase but faded to third behind Defence Witness after appearing to tire in the closing stages.
