Gary Neville believes Chelsea star Cole Palmer “lost his head” against Tottenham after being sent off in a fierce London derby.
Palmer was shown two yellow cards during the latter stages of the second half, the first for an off-the-ball shove on Mateus Fernandes and then a late challenge on Sandro Tonali.
Neville's Reaction to the Red Card
Neville said at the time of the Fernandes push that Palmer was “lucky” not to be shown a straight red card. Minutes later, after Tottenham had scored to take the lead through a Mike Penders own goal, a frustrated Palmer lashed out at Tonali.
“Cole Palmer's lost his head in these last few minutes,” Neville said as Palmer pleaded innocence. “He was lucky to avoid a red card earlier, and that one is a no-brainer.”
Criticism of Palmer's Actions
“To do that five minutes after the challenge on Fernandes is just silly. He sticks his studs in, he knows exactly what he is doing. Naughty, really naughty,” Neville added.
