Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged his former club to consider signing Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo or Wolves' Matheus Cunha in a bid to revitalise their struggling attack.
The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the Premier League season, with their frontline failing to deliver consistently. Neville believes the addition of either player could provide the spark Erik ten Hag's side desperately needs.
Neville's Transfer Recommendations
Speaking on his podcast, the former United captain highlighted Mbeumo's impressive form for Brentford, where the Cameroonian has developed into one of the league's most dangerous wingers. "Mbeumo's directness and goal threat would add a new dimension to United's attack," Neville stated.
He also praised Cunha's versatility, noting the Brazilian's ability to play across the front line. "Cunha may not be an out-and-out striker, but his technical quality and work rate would suit Ten Hag's system perfectly," Neville added.
United's Striker Search Continues
With Anthony Martial struggling for fitness and Rasmus Hojlund still adapting to English football, United's need for attacking reinforcements is clear. The club has been linked with several forwards across Europe, but Neville insists Premier League-proven talent should be prioritised.
"There's a premium on players from within the league, but you know what you're getting," he explained. "Both Mbeumo and Cunha have shown they can perform at this level week in, week out."
January Window Looms
As the January transfer window approaches, United's recruitment team face mounting pressure to deliver signings that can turn their season around. Whether they heed Neville's advice remains to be seen, but the calls for attacking reinforcements are growing louder by the week.
With Brentford likely to demand a significant fee for Mbeumo and Wolves reluctant to lose Cunha mid-season, United may need to dig deep to secure either target.
