David Moyes has hailed Jack Grealish's Premier League Player of the Month award as 'just the start' for the winger, who has revitalised his career on loan at Everton. The 30-year-old claimed the season's first monthly prize after registering four assists in two starts for the Toffees.
Grealish has rediscovered his form after a difficult spell at Manchester City, though his omission from the England squad during the international break served as a reminder of the work still required. Moyes, however, has full faith in the player, who celebrated his 30th birthday this week ahead of Saturday's clash against boyhood club Aston Villa.
'I'm really pleased for him,' Moyes said. 'It's a big privilege to be given that accolade. It's nothing down to me, it's down to Jack. He's looked after himself and worked incredibly hard. He's come back with the right mindset to produce and he has produced for us. It's just the start for Jack.'
On Grealish's international ambitions, Moyes added: 'I think that is a big motivation for him and he's put a marker down. I don't pick the England team and I'm glad I don't because there's so many good players. Jack needs to keep playing well for us to get ahead of them.'
Moyes also noted the affection Aston Villa fans still hold for Grealish, despite his departure for City in 2021 for a £100 million fee. 'I went to watch Villa play Crystal Palace and there were hundreds of Villa fans who came up to me asking how Jack is,' Moyes said. 'Everybody loved him as far as I could see.'
On team news, Moyes will make late calls on Vitaliy Mykolenko and Iliman Ndiaye, while teenager Tyler Dibling could make his full debut and Germany Under-21 international Merlin Rohl may feature for the first time since joining from Freiburg.
