Mo Salah blasts Liverpool and Arne Slot, hints at Anfield exit after Leeds snub
Mo Salah hits out at Liverpool boss Arne Slot in explosive claim

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has launched a stunning public attack on the club and manager Arne Slot, claiming he has been "thrown under the bus" amid a dramatic breakdown in their relationship.

Salah's Explosive Post-Match Comments

The Egyptian icon, 33, was left as an unused substitute during Liverpool's dramatic 3-3 Premier League draw with Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday. This marked his third consecutive game out of the starting lineup, having also been benched for the win over West Ham and only appearing at half-time against Sunderland in midweek.

Before this recent spell, Salah had not been named as a Premier League substitute since April 2024. In a frank and emotional interview after the Leeds match, the prolific scorer expressed deep disappointment with his treatment.

"I am very disappointed, I have done so much for this club over years, especially last season, it seems like the club has thrown me under the bus," Salah stated. "That’s how I feel it. Someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me a lot in summer. Now I’m on bench, so I can say they haven’t kept those promises."

A Broken Relationship with Slot, But Love for Teammates

Salah revealed that his once-positive dynamic with manager Arne Slot has completely shattered. "I used to have a good relationship (with Slot). Now we don’t have any relationship and I don't know why," he confessed. "(It) seems like someone does not want me in the club."

However, the forward was keen to separate his issues with the management from his feelings towards the Liverpool squad. He insisted there is no rift with his fellow players.

"No, no, no. These guys, they know how much I love them," he emphasised when asked if he felt let down by teammates. "They know how much I support them... The players have no… They didn’t…They are not connected to the situation at all. Even they support me so much. So, no. There’s just much love between us as players and respect."

Anfield Farewell and January Exit Looms

The situation has escalated to the point where Salah has hinted his next home game could be a goodbye. He has invited his parents to attend Liverpool's upcoming match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield.

"I called my mum and dad and told them to come to the Brighton game," Salah revealed. "It doesn't matter if I play or not. I'm going to enjoy it. I am just going to be at Anfield and say goodbye to the fans before the African Cup of Nations, because I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there."

Salah, who scored 29 league goals in Liverpool's title-winning campaign last season but has only netted four in 13 games this term, is set to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations later this month. His comments will fuel intense speculation of a potential January transfer, with clubs in Saudi Arabia previously linked with a move for him.

The striker defended his contributions, stating: "It’s not acceptable to me to be fair. If I was somewhere else, every club would protect its players. Now it’s: ‘Throw Mo under the bus because he is a problem in a team'. I don’t think I am a problem. I am not fighting for my position every day because I have earned it."

Liverpool's failure to secure victory against Leeds leaves them eighth in the Premier League table, 10 points behind leaders Arsenal, compounding a difficult period for the Merseyside club.
