Derek McInnes is facing a selection question ahead of Rangers' home match with St Johnstone on Saturday, after his team changes at Dundee last weekend failed to secure three points.
The Ibrox manager tweaked his formation at Dens Park, dropping striker Kevin Kelsy to the bench and bringing in on-loan Stuttgart winger Badredine Bouanani. That switch saw Minsu Kim move into a central role, playing just off Ryan Naderi up front.
Initially the plan did not work, as Rangers struggled against Steven Pressley's side and went 1-0 down. Bouanani soon justified his selection with a stunning equaliser before half-time, and in the second half Kim and Bouanani caused problems before Nico Raskin put Rangers in front. A mistake by captain Dan Neil, who was robbed by Callum Jones, cost the team two points.
Return to Winning Formula
The changes were understandable away from home against an in-form Dundee side, but against newly-promoted St Johnstone at Ibrox, Rangers will be expected to dominate and win comfortably. The likelihood is that McInnes will revert to the 4-4-2 system that beat Celtic twice and put three past Kilmarnock in Govan.
Expect Kelsy to come back in, with Bouanani keeping his place on the right flank. That means either Kim or Djeidi Gassama will be sacrificed and placed on the bench.
Defensive Uncertainty
Elsewhere, few alterations are expected, but one position to watch is centre-back. Emmanuel Fernandez was caught out of position for both Dundee goals last week. On Tuesday, McInnes gave ex-England international Ben Godfrey a run-out in a bounce game alongside several other fringe players.
Godfrey is pushing for a start, and this match could be the perfect opportunity to rest Fernandez.
Record Sport predicts Rangers will line up in a 4-4-2: Pandur - Sterling, Godfrey, Makhanya, Penrice - Bouanani, Neil, Raskin, Kim - Naderi, Kelsy.
