Manchester United are reportedly planning to hijack Juventus' contract negotiations with defender Pierre Kalulu, according to Italian media. The 24-year-old French centre-back, who can also play at right-back, is valued at around £35 million and has impressed since joining Juventus on loan from AC Milan in 2024.
Juventus triggered a £12 million option to buy Kalulu last summer, and the player's current deal runs until 2029. However, the Serie A club are now in talks to extend his contract until at least 2030 with improved wages. United are said to have sent scouts to watch Kalulu during Juventus' clash with AC Milan at the San Siro.
Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the defender, but United's qualification for the Champions League gives them an edge. Juventus failed to qualify for European football and dismissed manager Massimiliano Allegri after the season ended.
United are closing in on their first signing under new permanent boss Michael Carrick, having secured a £38 million deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. Carrick acknowledged the need for squad improvements after the season, saying, 'There's obviously work to do. It's quite obvious, with certain players leaving, there's a bit of work to do.'
