Alejandro Garnacho appeared furious after being dropped to the bench for Manchester United's Europa League final against Tottenham. The Argentine winger was left out of Ruben Amorim's starting line-up and was late joining his fellow substitutes for the warm-up, spending at least 15 minutes on the pitch chatting to Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon while still in his suit.
Garnacho was the last to emerge for the warm-up, joining the rest of the substitutes a good 10 minutes after they had started. He also posted an Instagram picture seven hours before kick-off featuring snaps of him scoring against Manchester City in last season's FA Cup final triumph, leading to suggestions he was already aware of his snub.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in January and has struggled for regular starts under Amorim. The manager has cited issues with his game, opting instead for Mason Mount, who has enjoyed a renaissance after injury. Amorim told TNT Sports: 'I felt Mason in this moment gives us a different balance. He's really good attacking, he's one extra in midfield.'
Garnacho previously frustrated Amorim with his reaction to being substituted in February, storming straight down the tunnel after being hauled off in a win over Ipswich. Amorim has chosen to back experience for the final, highlighting the big-game pedigree of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Harry Maguire.
