Marcus Rashford is reportedly willing to sign a five-year contract with Barcelona in a bid to push through a permanent transfer from Manchester United. The forward, who has spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Camp Nou, is desperate to remain in Catalonia beyond the summer, but negotiations have stalled over the fee.
United are holding firm on their £26.2 million (€30 million) valuation of the player, a price Barcelona are currently unwilling to meet. The Spanish club's financial restrictions have complicated matters, with Barcelona preferring another loan deal instead of a permanent transfer. United, however, have ruled out another loan and insist Rashford must depart on a permanent basis or not at all.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Rashford had already reached an in-principle agreement on a three-year contract that would see a 40 per cent reduction on his Old Trafford salary. With talks faltering, he is now prepared to abandon that proposal and instead sign a five-year deal, believing this could be the 'only option' to make the move financially viable for Barcelona.
The five-year contract would allow Barcelona to spread the transfer fee over a longer timeframe, reducing the yearly financial strain. Rashford has registered 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 appearances for the Catalan side, who have been impressed by his form this season.
With Ruben Amorim no longer in charge at Old Trafford and his former teammate Michael Carrick expected to be appointed permanent manager, a return to United is not completely ruled out. However, Rashford's preference has remained unchanged throughout the season: he wants to remain at Barcelona.
