Liverpool have been dealt a significant injury blow with confirmation that goalkeeper Alisson will be sidelined for six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during Saturday's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The Brazil international was forced off in the 79th minute at Selhurst Park, having sustained his second hamstring problem of the season. Tests have revealed the severity of the injury, ruling him out until after the November international break.
Alisson is expected to miss crucial Premier League matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa, as well as the Carabao Cup trip to Brighton and Champions League group games against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. His return could come against Southampton on 24 November or Real Madrid's visit to Anfield three days later.
Caoimhin Kelleher, who missed the Crystal Palace game through illness, is set to deputise in goal. The club also have third-choice keeper Vitezslav Jaros, who replaced Alisson at Selhurst Park, while Giorgi Mamardashvili, signed from Valencia in August for up to £29m, will not join until next summer.
