Michael Owen Urges Liverpool to Sign Jarrod Bowen as Mohamed Salah's Replacement

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has called on the club to sign West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is expected to leave Anfield when his contract expires this summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Owen described Bowen as a 'brilliant player' and a 'like-for-like' option to fill the void left by the Egyptian, who has scored 257 goals in nine seasons at Liverpool.

Bowen, 29, has registered eight goals and ten assists in the Premier League this season. Owen highlighted his finishing ability with both feet and his pace, saying: 'I think he is absolutely brilliant.'

Should West Ham be relegated, Bowen could be available for around £30m despite having four years remaining on his contract. The Hammers currently sit in the relegation zone after a heavy defeat at Brentford.

Owen added: 'If they went down, then he would be my idea of somebody to replace Salah.' Bowen has scored 84 goals in 277 appearances for West Ham since joining from Hull City in 2020.
