Liverpool manager Arne Slot faces mounting pressure after fans booed the team off at full-time in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield. The Premier League champions have lost 11 and drawn eight games this season, a disappointing return following a £450 million summer spending spree.
Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who scored Liverpool's opener, expressed disappointment at the fans' reaction. "We need them behind us," he told TNT Sports. "OK we didn't win, but I don't really think we deserved this. The fans have to be behind us for the full 90 minutes."
Defender Joe Gomez offered a contrasting view, saying he understands the frustration. "We feel it. It's the last thing we want. For us older boys who have experienced so many good times here, it does hurt," he said. "The fans pay their hard-earned money to come and watch us and they're entitled to show their frustration."
Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly targeting a £43.3 million move for Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche. French outlet L'Equipe claims the 24-year-old is "almost certain" to leave Monaco this summer, with Liverpool "more interested" than other suitors. Akliouche has scored four goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances this season, operating mainly from the right wing.
