Liverpool would be entitled to Premier League titles if Manchester City were stripped of their major honours. The latter have been found in breach of 114 alleged financial rules, casting further doubt over their success this century.
The process is not decided just yet, however, with City set to appeal the decision having denied them ever since being formally charged by the Premier League in February 2023. Club chiefs Ferran Soriano and Khaldoon Al Mubarak have both reiterated their protested innocence to bosses at rival clubs and City's own supporters, respectively.
Potential penalties and title handover
Should the club be found guilty and their appeal dismissed, they could be facing substantial penalties. The independent panel also possess the authority to implement retrospective measures and remove the club's Premier League titles.
Should that scenario unfold, the titles could potentially be handed to whichever team completed the respective campaigns in second position. Since 2008, Liverpool have been runners-up to City on three separate occasions, though just one of these seasons falls within the 2009-2018 timeframe City are charged under.
