Jurgen Klopp's Summer Plans Confirmed Following Anfield Homecoming
Jurgen Klopp has officially lined up his next professional engagement for the upcoming summer, having made a deeply emotional return to Liverpool Football Club last weekend. The former Reds manager, who stepped down from his managerial role in 2024, participated as an assistant boss for the Liverpool Legends side in a charity match against Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.
A Hero's Welcome and Community Engagement
Klopp received a rapturous reception from fans as he oversaw an entertaining 2-2 draw. Beyond the match itself, he was actively involved in various community initiatives organised by the LFC Foundation, the club's charitable arm. Klopp has served as an ambassador for the foundation since his departure from the managerial hot seat, a role he continues to embrace with dedication.
Following the event, Klopp took to Instagram to express his gratitude, posting photos and tagging the LFC Foundation with the caption: "Thank you to everyone who made my homecoming so special." This public acknowledgment underscored the significance of the occasion for the beloved figure.
Diverse Roles Since Leaving Liverpool
Since his exit from Liverpool, Klopp has assumed several high-profile positions within the football world. He initially joined the Red Bull Group as Head of Global Football in an advisory capacity, before being appointed as an expert by the German Football League (DFL). These roles have kept him closely connected to the sport's strategic and developmental aspects.
World Cup Punditry and Management Rumours Dismissed
Klopp's summer schedule is now set to become even busier, as he has been secured as a pundit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by German television and streaming service Magenta TV. The news was confirmed late last year through a promotional video that playfully hinted at a potential return to management, only for Klopp to clarify that he would be working as an analyst for the tournament.
In the video, after strolling through a stadium and gazing wistfully at his surroundings, Klopp directly addressed the camera: "Oh no, not as a manager. I am becoming a pundit for Magenta TV at the FIFA World Cup 2026."
Recently, Klopp also firmly dismissed speculation linking him with the managerial vacancy at Real Madrid, following Alvaro Arbeloa's departure. Speaking at the Magenta TV World Cup presentation event, he stated: "If Real Madrid had phoned, we would have heard about it by now. But that's all nonsense. They haven't called even once, not once. My agent is there, you can ask him. They haven't called him either."
Clear Stance on Future Management and Liverpool Loyalty
Klopp has been unequivocal about his future intentions, making it abundantly clear that should he ever return to management, it would not be with another English club. His comments after the Dortmund legends fixture reinforced his enduring and exclusive connection with Liverpool.
Reflecting on the experience, Klopp said: "Enjoyed every second. My role was definitely not to have a lot of words. I was here for the Foundation and to be part of a really special experience. For me, a very special experience after a while – being around, being that close, seeing all the Liverpool lads and then seeing the Dortmund lads as well, because that was like 80 per cent of my players. And you don't meet very often and have them all together in one room. It's really cool."
This sentiment highlights not only his professional commitments but also the personal bonds that continue to define his post-management career. Klopp's summer punditry role with Magenta TV marks another chapter in his diverse involvement in football, following a heartfelt return to the club where he achieved legendary status.
