Jurgen Klopp's Emotional Plea to Liverpool Fans: 'I Mean It'

Jurgen Klopp has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Liverpool supporters for their unwavering backing during his nine-year tenure at Anfield. The former Reds manager, who departed in May 2024 after a trophy-laden spell, made the comments on a podcast released Wednesday with ex-striker Peter Crouch.

Klopp, now global head of football at Red Bull, insisted that no one needs to thank him, as he feels equally indebted to the fans. 'Nobody has to say thank you to me... because I have to say thank you for the exact same reasons,' he said. 'We tried to do absolutely everything to be as successful as possible and it worked sometimes, sometimes it didn't.'

The German recalled the special connection with supporters, saying he wants to look back on his nine years with a smile. 'Nobody can think back to these nine years without a smile on their face because it was just great. Everything about it, how connected we were.'

Klopp also reflected on his early days at the club, noting that time was crucial for development. 'Everything needs time... we were lucky enough to make immediate steps that everyone could see it was going in the right direction,' he added, citing the gradual build-up of a title-winning squad.
