New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson was fortunate that his display of athleticism did not cause a serious incident with a notable Atlanta Hawks fan during Game 6 of the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. The Knicks completely dominated the Hawks, jumping out to a 47-point lead at halftime, which set an NBA playoff record.
At the end of the first half, Brunson attempted a heroic play by diving into the stands to chase a loose ball. However, he crashed straight into a courtside fan, sending both to the ground. After getting up, Brunson realized the person he collided with was none other than Louisiana native and rapper Boosie, also known as Lil' Boosie or Boosie BadAzz.
While Brunson tried to help him up, Boosie—born Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr.—clutched his knee and writhed on the ground in apparent pain from the collision. Soon, Brunson realized the 'Wipe Me Down' performer was just playing, so he jogged back to the action. Boosie then slapped the court in mock anger before proceedings returned to normal.
Boosie, a big Hawks fan despite being from New Orleans Pelicans territory, has a history of controversies and legal issues, including a first-degree murder trial where he was found not guilty. He has also faced criticism for homophobic statements against the transgender daughter of Dwyane Wade and rapper Lil Nas X, whom he urged to commit suicide.
Unfortunately for Boosie's Hawks, they could not overcome the massive deficit, losing 140-89 and being eliminated from the playoffs. OG Anunoby scored 29 points in 27 minutes, and Karl-Anthony Towns recorded his second triple-double of the series as the Knicks achieved their biggest playoff victory in franchise history.
