Hearts supporters have taken aim at Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes with a brutal banner protest during their recent clash at Tynecastle. The banner, which was unfurled in the away end, read: 'McInnes: Get to f***, you're a disgrace to football.' The protest came after Aberdeen's poor run of form, which has seen them lose four of their last five matches.
The banner was quickly removed by stewards, but not before it was captured on camera and shared widely on social media. Hearts fans have been vocal in their criticism of McInnes, who has been in charge at Pittodrie since 2013. The 50-year-old has led Aberdeen to two Scottish Cup finals and four second-place finishes in the Premiership, but his style of play has often been criticised.
Speaking after the match, McInnes said: 'I understand the frustration of the fans. We've not been good enough recently, and I take full responsibility for that. But I'm confident we can turn things around.' The banner protest is the latest in a series of incidents that have highlighted the growing discontent among Hearts supporters towards McInnes.
