England captain Harry Kane has been immortalised with a waxwork at Madame Tussauds London, unveiled ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The figure, which shows Kane in an England kit with his right foot resting on a football, was created in close collaboration with the footballer, who described seeing it as 'like looking in a mirror'.
Kane, currently in Miami, admitted it was a 'weird feeling' to see his replica, praising the artists for their attention to detail, including the tape on his wedding finger that he kisses when celebrating a goal. The waxwork will reside in London, a city Kane called 'special' and the perfect location for his first figure.
The unveiling was a family affair, with Kane's wife Kate and their four children attending. He expressed hope that the figure would inspire young fans, particularly those from his boyhood club Ridgeway Rovers in Walthamstow, who were given a preview.
The waxwork joins sporting legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Mo Salah in the Culture Capital zone. Steve Blackburn, general manager at Madame Tussauds London, said Kane is 'one of the most important figures in global sport' and that bringing his first figure to London was a must ahead of the World Cup.
