Viktor Gyokeres has scored in back-to-back Nations League matches for Sweden, with head coach Graham Potter joking he is too scared to rest the Arsenal striker.
Gyokeres scores in consecutive wins
Sweden began their Nations League campaign with a victory over Romania, before backing it up with a win against Poland on Monday night. Gyokeres scored in both matches, peeling off to the back post and volleying in to seal the win against Poland.
Sweden now face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, before travelling to Romania three days later.
Potter on resting the striker
With Alexander Isak returning to Liverpool due to injury, there have been suggestions that Potter could look to be extra cautious with Gyokeres' fitness. However, Potter told Viaplay: "He has an extra day to recover - these guys are used to playing on a tight schedule."
"If I told Viktor I wanted to rest him, he would probably rip my head off, I think."
Quiet season at Arsenal
Gyokeres has had a quiet season for Arsenal so far. He is yet to score for the Gunners and has not started a Premier League match.
Potter spoke before the international break about wanting to play his part in Gyokeres regaining some confidence, and that has proved to be the case.
Praise for all-round impact
The Sweden boss hailed Gyokeres' impact at both ends against Poland, and explained why he kept the striker on until the 88th minute even with his side in control of the match.
"It was a tough match and we needed to win," Potter said. "He headed balls away. We focused on winning, and now we're going to try to get everyone to recover. He's ready to play."
"If he had been allowed to [come off] earlier, he might have been p***** at me."
Potter continued: "In the second half I think he was outstanding. Even if he doesn't win the first duel outright, you can win the second ball."
"You can attack large areas. You can build through the midfield or the centre-backs."
"It's nice to have him, he gives you an opening. The opposing defenders have to be careful in being one on one against Viktor Gyokeres... good luck to them, because it's not easy."
