A family has paid a heartfelt tribute to a 15-year-old girl described as having the "biggest smile" after she died in a car crash last week.
Charlie Olivia Slack was a passenger in a Fiat 500 when it was involved in a collision on Shincliffe Lane, near Durham, at approximately 5.30pm on Thursday, September 24. Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family's tribute
In a statement, her family said: "Words can't describe how broken we are. 15 years is only a short lifetime in which to fulfil your dreams and conquer the world. Charlie was our beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, granddaughter, cousin and friend."
They added: "Your beautiful face is everywhere we turn. We keep hoping you will just pop round the corner with one of your favourite sayings or your contagious laugh, singing and dancing, playing Fortnite, making us laugh with the biggest smile on your face."
Thanks to responders
The family said they could "never fill the massive void" left in their lives but take comfort in the memories Charlie left behind. They thanked everyone who cared for her and tried to save her, saying the actions of the emergency services and members of the public "have not gone unnoticed". They concluded: "Charlie will be loved forever."
