Grealish in Shock Everton Loan Talks

Everton are reportedly monitoring Jack Grealish's situation at Manchester City, with a potential loan move being considered. The 29-year-old England international has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, and City boss Pep Guardiola is expected to leave him out of the squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

According to the Daily Mail, no formal talks have taken place between the clubs, but Everton are aware of Grealish's availability. A loan deal is the most likely option, though his £300,000-a-week wages could prove a stumbling block due to Premier League profit and sustainability rules. However, bringing Grealish to Bramley-Moore Dock would be seen as a major statement from new owners, the Friedkin Group.

Everton manager David Moyes previously heaped praise on Grealish in 2021, calling him 'probably the best player in the Premier League at this time.' Moyes faces the challenge of restoring Grealish to the form that earned him a £100million move to City from Aston Villa in 2021.

Statistical analysis shows a decline in Grealish's offensive output since joining City. In the 2024/25 season, his goals per 90 minutes dropped to 0.13 from 0.34 in his final Villa campaign, while assists fell from 0.34 to 0.13. Dribbles also decreased from 7.02 to 5.58 per 90 minutes. However, his passing numbers have increased, reflecting City's style of play.

Defensively, Grealish was more active at Villa, with 5 ball recoveries per 90 minutes compared to 3.04 at City, and interceptions of 1.79 versus 0.89. Despite the dip, his underlying numbers suggest he could rediscover his best form under Moyes at Everton.
