Brentford boss Thomas Frank didn't hold back in his assessment of Tottenham's recent 2-1 pre-season defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, labelling Spurs' performance as "naive" in their defensive approach.
The Danish manager, whose Bees side face Tottenham in a London derby this season, suggested Ange Postecoglou's men were too open against the French giants. "When you play against top teams like PSG, you can't afford to be naive defensively," Frank told reporters.
Frank's Transfer Window Plans
While analysing Tottenham's shortcomings, Frank also revealed Brentford's ambitions for the upcoming transfer window. The Bees are reportedly targeting a new striker to replace Ivan Toney, who continues to be linked with a move away from the Gtech Community Stadium.
"We're always looking to strengthen," Frank admitted. "The January window is tricky, but we have our targets identified."
Premier League Preparation
With the new Premier League season approaching, Frank emphasised the importance of learning from pre-season results. "These matches are about preparation, not just results," he said. "But the lessons from games like Tottenham's against PSG are valuable for all teams."
The Brentford manager's comments come as his own team prepare for their final pre-season fixtures before their Premier League opener against Tottenham on August 13th.
