Nottingham Forest secured a 1-1 draw in their Europa League quarter-final first leg against Porto, thanks to a comical own goal from defender Martim Fernandes. The result leaves the tie finely poised ahead of next week's second leg at the City Ground.
Forest, who made nine changes to their starting line-up, fell behind early to William Gomes' strike. However, they were gifted an equaliser when Fernandes, attempting a back-pass to goalkeeper Diogo Costa, sent the ball into his own net from 25 yards.
The visitors had a goal disallowed in the second half for handball after a VAR review, but goalkeeper Stefan Ortega produced several crucial saves to keep the scores level. Forest now return to Nottingham with a draw and a vital away goal.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo's decision to rest key players for Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa paid off, as his side avoided defeat in Portugal. Forest are seeking to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1995.
