Footballer’s Daughter Mia Carragher Cast as Katniss in Hunger Games Stage Show

Mia Carragher, daughter of former Liverpool and England footballer Jamie Carragher, has been cast as Katniss Everdeen in the first-ever live stage adaptation of The Hunger Games. The production is set to open at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre in London on 20th October 2025 and will run until 15th February 2026.

Carragher, who will make her theatre debut in the role, previously appeared in the independent film One Night in Istanbul and Channel 4’s The Gathering. She is also set to star in the upcoming Playground Entertainment series Maigret.

In a statement, Carragher said: “I am so excited and honoured to be playing Katniss. This is a dream come true role and I cannot wait to see the production come to life.” Director Matthew Dunster, known for 2:22 – A Ghost Story, commented: “We’ve found our Katniss in Mia Carragher, and we can’t wait for audiences to see her.”

The stage show will be performed in the round, featuring wire-work and on-stage fighting. The creative team includes set designer Miriam Buether, costume designer Moi Tran, and choreographer Charlotte Broom, among others. Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting from £40.
