Arsenal Eye Eberechi Eze as Rio Ferdinand Urges Gunners to Sign Crystal Palace Star
Ferdinand: Arsenal should sign Eze from Palace

Rio Ferdinand has thrown his weight behind Arsenal's potential pursuit of Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, describing the 25-year-old as an "unbelievable" talent who could elevate Mikel Arteta's side.

The former Manchester United defender, speaking on his FIVE podcast, insisted Eze possesses the creativity and flair Arsenal sometimes lack in midfield. "He's got that ability to take people on, to create something out of nothing," Ferdinand said. "Arsenal need players like that."

Eze's Stellar Season

The England international has been in scintillating form for Palace, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in the Premier League last season. His performances earned him a late call-up to Gareth Southgate's provisional Euro 2024 squad.

Ferdinand believes Eze's versatility makes him particularly valuable: "He can play as a 10, off the left, even as a false nine. That's the kind of flexibility top teams need."

Arsenal's Midfield Options

While Arsenal boast depth in midfield with Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard and Kai Havertz, Ferdinand argues Eze would offer something different: "When teams sit deep against Arsenal, they sometimes struggle to break them down. Eze can be that game-changer."

The Gunners are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer as they look to close the gap on Manchester City. With Palace reportedly valuing Eze at around £60m, any deal would represent a significant investment.

Competition for Signature

Arsenal aren't the only club monitoring Eze's situation. Both Tottenham and Manchester United have been linked with the former QPR man, setting up a potential London derby for his signature.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner will be desperate to keep hold of his star player, but the lure of Champions League football at the Emirates could prove decisive.
