England take on Norway in the World Cup 2026 quarterfinals tonight, with a semi-final spot at stake. The Three Lions produced a stunning performance to beat Mexico at the Estadio Azteca, advancing to the last eight. A peak television audience watched despite the 2am BST kick-off on Monday morning.
Thomas Tuchel’s side again relied on Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, who scored the crucial goals. Norway, however, are a surprise opponent. Many expected Brazil to be England’s quarterfinal rival in Miami, but Stale Solbakken’s team knocked out the Selecao in the last 16 thanks to a late brace from Erling Haaland.

England vs Norway is scheduled for a 10pm BST kick-off on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The match will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

England vs Norway Team News
For England, three main injury concerns have been allayed on the eve of the game. Reece James, Marc Guehi and Declan Rice all missed training on Thursday, undertaking individual programmes after the Mexico win, but joined the group on Friday. James, the Chelsea right-back, has sat out the last two games with a hamstring injury but is believed to be in line for a comeback. Rice is managing lower back pain, which he played through against Mexico. Centre-back Guehi has started all but the first match against Croatia and was absent from training as a precaution.
Otherwise, Thomas Tuchel has a full complement to select from but is unlikely to deviate from what has worked well so far in North America.
England squad: Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, James Trafford. Defenders: Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Jarell Quansah, Nico O'Reilly, Dan Burn, Djed Spence. Midfielders: Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Morgan Rogers, Kobbie Mainoo, Eberechi Eze. Forwards: Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Gordon.
As for Norway, their camp was struck by a nasty bug in the build-up. However, team doctor Ola Sand confirmed that all players are fit to face the Three Lions. "All players are healthy now. Very little fuss considering that we have been close together for almost six weeks. We are in control," she said. This means Solbakken has a full squad to select from, with star marksman Erling Haaland set to go up against his Premier League colleagues. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will also lock horns with club-mate Declan Rice in midfield.
Norway squad: Goalkeepers: Orjan Nyland, Egil Selvik, Sander Tangvik. Defenders: Kristoffer Ajer, Torbjorn Heggem, Leo Skiri Ostigard, Julian Ryerson, Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, David Moller Wolfe, Fredrik Bjorkan, Sondre Langas, Henrik Falchener. Midfielders: Martin Odegaard, Sander Berge, Fredrik Aursnes, Patrick Berg, Kristian Thorstvedt, Antonio Nusa, Oscar Bobb, Andreas Schjelderup, Jens Petter Hauge, Thelo Aasgaard, Morten Thorsby. Forwards: Erling Braut Haaland, Alexander Sorloth, Jorgen Strand Larsen.
England vs Norway Prediction
This will be a tougher game than many think, especially after Norway’s shock win over Brazil. They have ruthlessness in front of goal with Haaland, but he needs service to finish chances. If England snuff that out, they could be in business. Leaving themselves open to a counter-attack could spell trouble. Prediction: England to win 2-1 after extra time.
Head-to-Head History and Results
England wins: 7. Norway wins: 2. Draws: 3.
