England vs Ghana: Marc Guehi starts as Tuchel makes changes

Thomas Tuchel has made one change to his England starting lineup for the World Cup group match against Ghana, with Marc Guehi replacing John Stones in central defence. The Three Lions aim to make it two wins from two after beating Croatia 4-2 in their Group L opener in Dallas.

Team news and injury updates

Captain Harry Kane and midfielder Declan Rice have both been declared fit to start. Kane was pictured with strapping on his left leg after the Croatia game, but it was only for cramp. Rice asked to come off during that match due to pain, but Standard Sport understands it was nothing serious.

Jude Bellingham retains his place at number 10 ahead of Morgan Rogers. Djed Spence also comes into the side, replacing Nico O'Reilly at left-back. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged from the Croatia victory.

England's training match

Players who did not feature against Croatia, including Morgan Rogers, Eberechi Eze, and Djed Spence, took part in a behind-closed-doors training match against MLS side Sporting Kansas City last Thursday. England won 5-1, with Ivan Toney scoring a hat-trick, and Ollie Watkins and Rogers also on the scoresheet.

Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah, who flew in as a replacement for the injured Tino Livramento, was present but did not feature in the training game.

Tuchel's selection decisions

Tuchel had admitted there was healthy competition on both wings after Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford came off the bench to combine for the fourth goal against Croatia, replacing Anthony Gordon and Noni Madueke. However, he has stuck with Gordon and Madueke for the Ghana match.

Ghana also won their Group L opener, beating Panama 1-0 in Toronto thanks to a last-gasp goal from Caleb Yirenkyi.
