Howe Denies Isak Transfer Promise, But Exit Looms

Eddie Howe has denied promising Alexander Isak a transfer out of Newcastle this summer, despite the striker's recent Instagram post hinting at 'broken promises'. The Newcastle manager stated he never makes such promises to players, as he is not in full control of transfers.

However, Newcastle's imminent £70m signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart has paved the way for Liverpool to make a record £130m bid for Isak. The Swedish striker has refused to train or play for Newcastle for most of the pre-season, and recent attempts by club owners to broker a rapprochement have failed.

Howe acknowledged that Isak's determination to leave may make a sale inevitable. 'Of course I would have a preference,' he said, 'but you have to take everything else into account. You can't just be oblivious to things that have happened.'

The manager is now focused on bringing in new players, including Brentford's Yoane Wissa and Wolves' Jørgen Strand Larsen, to partner Woltemade. Howe also confirmed that Woltemade will not be available for Saturday's match at Leeds, where Newcastle will be without the suspended Anthony Gordon and injured Joelinton.
