ITV Darts Commentator Alan Warriner Axed After 20 Years, Blasts Broadcaster

Alan Warriner, a former darts professional and commentator, has criticised ITV after claiming he was dropped from their darts coverage team without being informed, despite 20 years of service. The 58-year-old said the broadcaster had thrown him 'in the gutter' after he discovered his omission from the network's 2026 line-up via a social media post.

The PDC unveiled the new ITV team on Thursday, featuring presenters Pete Graves and Gabbie Partington, pundits Mark Webster and Wayne Mardle, and commentators Mark Wilson and Dan Dawson. Warriner's name was notably absent, prompting him to vent on X: 'It would have been nice/professional after 20 years service with ITV to at least be told I have been thrown in the gutter.'

However, a fan pointed out that Warriner had already announced his departure in November 2025, posting at the time: 'Thanks for 18 years of fun @ITVSport in a sport I love. Tough day when you know it's your last, but what a show to bow down with.' Warriner later acknowledged the discrepancy but maintained his frustration at the lack of direct communication from ITV.

ITV's new darts deal, signed in October 2025, runs until at least 2028 and includes coverage of the World Masters, UK Open, Players Championship Finals, and World Series events. Former world champion Glen Durrant will also join as an expert analyst.
