Emergency services have resumed a multi-agency search of a lake near Gloucester after a male voice was heard calling for help on Friday night.
Search underway after report of distress
Gloucestershire Police said the report came in at around 11.45pm on Friday, with a male voice heard from the direction of a lake off Sandhurst Lane, just outside Gloucester. Police and fire crews attended and an initial search was made before being temporarily paused due to concerns for the welfare of officers.
In a statement released on Saturday morning, a spokesperson said: "It was reported at around 11.45pm that a male voice was heard from the direction of the lake off Sandhurst Lane, just outside of Gloucester, calling for assistance. Police and fire crews attended and an initial search was made before being temporarily paused due to concerns for the welfare of officers."
Enquiries ongoing
Searches have since resumed, alongside other enquiries around any missing people in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact Gloucestershire Police via their website, quoting incident number 561 of August 7.
In a separate incident, tributes have been paid to a man who died after being struck by multiple vehicles on the A40 in Carmarthen. Gerard Trojanowski, 44, from the Merthyr Tydfil area, was pronounced dead at the scene on Tuesday, July 28. His family described him as a "loving husband and father" and a "wonderful and generous person with a good heart."
Dyfed-Powys Police made a compulsory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) following the incident, which closed the A40 for nearly 24 hours. Witnesses are urged to contact police on 101.
