Six English clubs discovered their Champions League last-16 opponents on Friday as the draw took place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle all learned their paths to the final at Budapest's Puskas Arena on May 30.
Arsenal, who topped the league phase with a perfect record, will face Bayer Leverkusen. Chelsea have been drawn against holders Paris Saint-Germain in a repeat of last summer's Club World Cup final, which Chelsea won 3-0. Tottenham meet Atletico Madrid for the first time since 1963, while Liverpool take on Galatasaray. Newcastle face Barcelona again after their September defeat, and Manchester City prepare for a fifth consecutive Champions League knockout tie against Real Madrid.
The draw also set up potential quarter-final and semi-final clashes. Chelsea could face Liverpool in the quarter-finals and Manchester City in the semi-finals. Arsenal have a more favourable route, with Sporting or Bodo/Glimt in the quarter-finals and a potential semi-final against Newcastle, Barcelona, Atletico or Tottenham.
In the Europa League, Aston Villa face Lille and Nottingham Forest take on Midtjylland in the last 16. Crystal Palace await their Conference League opponent after advancing past Zrinjski Mostar.
