Arsenal have issued an apology to Atletico Madrid after the Spanish club's players were left without hot water in their dressing room at the Emirates Stadium following a training session on Monday evening.
Atletico trained at the Emirates ahead of their Champions League clash with Arsenal on Tuesday night. However, Diego Simeone's side were forced to return to their hotel to shower after discovering there was no hot water available in the dressing rooms.
The issue affected both the home and away dressing rooms, according to reports. Atletico staff alerted Arsenal to the problem at 6.45pm, while the players were still training. The session, originally scheduled to finish at 7.30pm, was completed 15 minutes early.
The hot water issue was not resolved until 7.25pm, by which time Atletico had already decided to head back to their hotel. Arsenal apologised to the Spanish club for the inconvenience caused.
UEFA regulations require stadiums to have showers with hot water, but it is unclear whether these rules apply to training sessions or only match days.
